Technologies, work and welfare in the digital era: Sant’Anna School hosts the Spring School event to improve the exchange of knowledge between leading scholars and doctoral students on the Fourth Industrial Revolution impact on labour and welfare state

On May 8-11, Sant’Anna School hosts the Spring School “Work and Welfare in the Digital Era”. The course is organized by ESPAnet (European Network of Social Policy Analysis) and INAPP (Istituto Nazionale per l'Analisi delle Politiche Pubbliche) to stimulate critical thinking on four main topics:

Technological innovations and their impact on the labour market and social policy;

The politics of technological innovation;

The key traits of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and its major challenges;

Industrial relations systems and the Fourth Industrial Revolution. 

Leading scholars from different disciplines (political science, sociology and economics) will give lectures on digital technologies and their impact on education, social policy and public spending.

Marius Busemeyer (University of Konstanz) will discuss European welfare states and the social investment paradigm; Manos Matsaganis (Polytechnic University - Milano), will discuss the European Commission’s Social Investment Package; Oscar Molina (Autonomous University of Barcelona), as a leading expert for the International Labour Office, will lecture on corporatism and varieties of capitalism, trade union strategies and collective bargaining during the Great Recession; Marta Kahancova (Central European Labour Studies - Bratislava) will give a talk on industrial relations and labour market in Central and Eastern Europe; Philippe Pochet, General Director of the European Trade Union Institute, will give his talk on social and economic policies, European social dialogue and the impact of climate change and digitalisation on jobs.

Sant’Anna School researchers Alessandro Nuvolari, David Natali and Igor Guardiancich, will join this impressive line-up of keynote speakers.
